Historic Photos
Yes, 2006 does not seem that historic, compared to an album of old faded photos in sepia tones. However, these images are now around twenty years old.
Some perennial stores still are with us – including Vito’s Pizza, the Pennington Apothecary, Agabiti’s Cobbler, the Village Salon, and the Blackwell Memorial Home.
But others stores are now gone – including the Sun National Bank, Pennington Hardware, and other small businesses including the Cup of Joe café. Yet the buildings and the look are still with us.
You also can compare these 2006 photos to the set of 2016 Pennington Photos contributed by Charlie Hunt (see earlier post).

Legacy
In addition, these kinds of photos from our time are part of our legacy to the future. In this case, they are the result of one guy who happened to take some photos around his town one day, maybe even for no particular reason – which then resulted in this gift to us and beyond.
So please contact us if you have similar historic photos of local scenes that you can share on the History Project. And also please reach out if you are interested in taking photos to help preserve the Hopewell Valley of today. Thanks.
