Description

The 4 Mercer Street building is built over a tributary of the Beden Brook. The first building, Piggott’s Agricultural Implements store, was there in the 1880s, but collapsed in 1895.
By the early 1900s, the replacement building and several adjacent smaller buildings were used for multiple businesses. It then was used primarily for two long-term businesses: Louie Gerhard’s Eagle Bakery from the 1930s, and then Vincenzo’s / Franco’s Pizza from the 1970s. The building was damaged in the mid-2021 hurricane flooding, and is now unoccupied.
