The October updates to the History Project featured local dairies, 1974 aerials, and a variety of new images. (See Site Updates for more.)
By the numbers, we finished the month with 308 files in the Archives, including 153 documents and 155 maps and aerials. The Image Gallery now has 3680 files, and the Panoramas Collection has 50 images. The Pamphlet Collection has 223 documents, and the Property Reports Collection has 87 documents, with 58 Site Survey reports and 29 Property Briefs. The interactive History Map includes 775 addresses with 102 historic places in Hopewell Borough. The History Project YouTube Channel is hosting 28 videos, plus 16 external local history videos, including 6 videos of History Project presentations. Please keep the materials coming!
Hopewell Valley Dairies
The mid 1900s were the heyday of independent farms and dairies in the Hopewell Valley.
Hopewell Valley Dairies provides examples of bottles, caps, and artifacts from dairies in Pennington, Hopewell, and Titusville.
Hopewell Borough 1974 Aerials
A new set of Hopewell Borough 1974 Aerials, kindly contributed by Roger Labaw, show views around the Hopewell Elementary School, along Broad Street, and over Highland Cemetery.
There are part of the Panorama Collection, which currently contains thirteen such different sets of aerials and panoramas, dating back to 1932 Lindbergh era aerials of Hopewell, and also including views of Pennington and around Hopewell Township.
