Hopewell Inn Tours

The Hopewell Valley Bistro & Inn building, formerly at 15 East Broad Street on the corner of Seminary Avenue in Hopewell, was demolished in July 2022.

The building may be gone, but we do have visual tours of the Hopewell Inn through an extensive archive of imagery of the original property, the building, and some of the familiar mementos of the Bistro. The extensive collection of imagery shared on the History Project includes a total of 154 files, with 21 panoramic exterior views, 3 video walkthroughs of the three floors, and 130 photos of walkthroughs of the three floors and the basement – plus annotated building plans.

The left and right eye images have been aligned to create 3D renderings in several formats, including a flip animation and a color anaglyph version for viewing with red/blue glasses.

Pennington 250th Booklet

This 72-page Pennington Sesquibicentennial 1708 – 1958 booklet was prepared by the Kleio Club in 1958 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the first recorded settlement on the site of Pennington.

This amazing reference to Pennington’s history, includes the stories of its major institutions and civic groups from the early 1700s, including churches, schools, the Library, Fire Company, and banks.

The full document has been scanned and is available on the History Project site, including photos.

Hoproco Toy Company Presentation

The materials from the Hoproco – Hopewell’s 1920s Toy Company presentation are posted, including the presentation video and slides, exhibit photos, product images, and references.

Hoproco, the Hopewell Products Company, operated from 1923 to 1929 on Burton Avenue in Hopewell, manufacturing metal and wooden mechanical toys and novelties. The presentation explores the history of Hoproco, its factory building, and the five known toys that the company created that are still prized by collectors today.

Please contact us if you have – or know of – other images and materials that we can share to help illuminate the history of our Hopewell Valley.
