Here are four short video clips of local parades and events from the early 1990s, plus photos of the 1990 Pennington Memorial Day parade.

The videos include the 1992 Pennington Memorial Day parade, two Titusville Fourth of July parades from 1992 and 1994, and a May Day celebration (with maypole) at Toll Gate Grammar School in 1992.

1992 Toll Gate May Day Video

Janet Mills, the Toll Gate Grammar School music teacher, produced a May Day event at the school each spring complete with a maypole, and featuring children’s music and dancing.

This 1992 Toll Gate May Day video includes an scarf dance (by adults), children singing, a variety of children’s circle dances, and, of course, maypole dancing.

1992 Pennington Memorial Day Parade Video

This 1992 Pennington Memorial Day parade clip starts with parents and children assembling at the school building, so they can join the tail of the parade when it passes by.

Highlights of the parade then include the parade leaders, horses, school band, cars, bikers, Pennington Players, scouts, kids on bikes, band, fire company and trucks, and the children’s group who joined in on bikes and wagons.

1992 Titusville Fourth of July Parade Video

This is the first of two clips of Fourth of July parades in Titusville, on River Drive along the Delaware River.

The 1992 clip begins with arriving at the parade and decorations on the houses along the street and on the river. We then see pieces of the parade – bikes, trucks, antique cars, the string band, other bands, scouts, bagpipes, the Class of 2000, and fire trucks – before a final “Goodbye Titusville.”

1994 Titusville Fourth of July Parade Video

This second clip of the Titusville Fourth of July parade is from 1994, two years later, with similar elements.

It also starts with views of houses and along the river, and then includes the reviewing stand, string band, Miss 4th of July, bagpipes, scouts, bands, ambulance, antique wagons, antique cars, fire trucks – and a final note, “The parade is over.”
